KFC VIRTUAL INFLUENCER

COLONEL SANDERS VIRTUAL INFLUENCER

Ever heard of Lil Miquela? How about Imma.gram? They’re what’s known as a virtual influencer and they have tens of thousands of followers on social media and are paid lots of money to promote brands and products. They’re also entirely fictional and made from CG and will live on in their suspended youthful states to promote products to your grandkids’ grandkids’ grandkids, or at least until the machines take over.

With the help of (once again) Smearballs and a talented team of VFX artists we turned Colonel Sanders into one of these virtual influencers. The campaign took some weird turns; we partnered with real-life influencers (some carbon-based lifeforms and some fellow virtual ones) to legitimize the Colonel’s brand-slinger cred, and even got brands asking us to promote their products.

In the end, the twenty three posts rolled out in a narrative arc that showcased both success in the age of 21st Century marketing, and a good hard look at how the internet is sometimes very different from real life.
